- Sankalpam – Declaring name, nakshatra, and purpose

- Kalasha Sthapana & Mangala Avahanam – Invoking Mars deity
- Mantra Japa – Chanting of Mangala Moola Mantra (108 or 1008 times)
- Fire Ritual (Homa) – Offerings like:
- Ghee, red sandalwood, red flowers, red lentils (thuvaram paruppu), pomegranate, jaggery
- Purna Ahuti – Final offering and closing of homam
- Theertham and Prasadam – Sprinkling sanctified water and giving prasadam
